Have you considered going back to college, or attending college for the first time, but don't know how you will pay for it? There are many programs that will pay for all or part of your schooling, or allow you to defer the cost of schooling until after you have completed your program. Your school of choice will help you to apply for financial assistance, but here is an outline of sources of financial assistance offered at Clover Park Technical College.
Financial Aid
Loans: Student loans are borrowed money that must be repaid. Some loans are based on financial need, others are not. Also, students can apply for emergency loans to help pay for supplies and equipment.
Grants: Federal and state grants are awarded to students with financial need.
Work Study: The Federal Work Study Program provides part-time employment, on or off campus, for full- and part-time students.
Scholarships are available from the college, the college Foundation and other organizations. Some scholarships are open to all students, others are limited to students in specific programs.
Veterans’ and Spouses’ Benefits include financial assistance for students through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Worker Retraining Funds provide funds for tuition, books, childcare and transportation for qualified Dislocated Workers (received unemployment benefits in the last 24 months and/or separated from the U.S. Armed Services), Displaced Homemakers, and individuals employed in an occupation in decline who need additional training or have not earned a certificate or 45 college credits.
Opportunity Grants provide low-income students in high demand career pathways with support services and financial assistance for tuition fees, books, emergency transportation or childcare.
WorkFirst Financial Aid/Tuition Assistance can be used towards tuition books, and fees for low-income working parents, as well as WorkFirst (TANF) parents.
